Yarn package for Zipper Sweater - Man from PetiteKnit. With this yarn option, the sweater is knitted in 1 strand of thick pure merino wool. A 35 cm long zipper in a matching color is included. Unfortunately, we do not have the rights to sell the recipe, but you can find it here:

If you want to knit the sweater longer than the pattern suggests, either on the body or the sleeves, you must go up a size.

Zipper Sweater - One is knitted from top to bottom in one piece. The neck edge is worked in purl, which is folded twice and worked down. The carrier piece is knitted with raglan increases, first back and forth on the circular needle to make room for the zip, and then around the circular needle. Body and sleeves are knitted in the round. Finally, cover for the zip is knitted from resting stitches, so that the zip looks nice even from the wrong side. The zipper is finally assembled by sewing it in between the two layers of elastic by hand or by machine..

Size guide

Zipper Sweater Man should have a range of motion ((positive ease)of approx. 20 cm in relation to your/the recipient's chest measurement. The fit is oversized. If you want a less oversized expression, you can go down a size. The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) correspond to a chest measurement of 86-91 (91-96) 96-101 (101-107) 107-113 (113-119) 119-124 ( 124-132) cm. The measurements of the finished sweater are indicated on the front of the pattern. Measure yourself/the recipient before you start knitting, to assess which size will fit best. If you/the recipient e.g. measures 103 cm around the chest (or the widest part of the upper body), you should knit size L. A sweater in size L has an excess width of 125 cm, and in the mentioned example will give a range of movement (positive ease) of 22 cm. If you want a less oversized expression, you can knit size M, and you will then achieve a range of motion of 16 cm.

More information

Thick pure merino wool:

Extrafine merino wool is used for this yarn so that it feels soft and gentle on the skin. The yarn is spun with extra long fibers to produce a yarn that is flexible and strong with a silky feel and shine. It is incredibly soft and elastic, and the threads are twisted in such a way that it gives extra strength to the yarn.

Advice when knitting with hand-dyed yarn
Hand-dyed yarn, as the name suggests, is a craft, and there will be differences between skeins. This means that it is not necessarily just a matter of unraveling the yarn and starting to knit. Now, we're not going to make it more complicated than it needs to be, but there are a few things that might be good to know before you get started.

We recommend that you knit every other round from different skeins to camouflage any color differences. The more colorvariety in the yarn, the more important is this. Kimmie Munkholm shows this nicely when knitting circular in this video, and when you knit back and forth in this video.

If you don't want to knit every other round from different skeins (this is done at your own risk 😉), it is recommended to do this a few rounds when changing yarn. This applies regardless of the color of the yarn.
Wash and care of garments knitted in hand-dyed yarn
We recommend hand washing followed by a quick spin, or wool wash program if you trust your washing machine. Use ONLY detergent intended for wool/silk (Milo or such). Feel free to add a little clear vinegar - this helps preserve the colors. Do not soak the garment.

Please note that the yarn may contain excess colour. Therefore, wash separately the first time.

All knitted garments should be stored flat.
