Novice Cardigan Chunky Edition
Yarn kit for Novice Cardigan Chunky Edition from PetiteKnit. Here the cardigan is knitted in 1 strand Chunky Mohair/alpaca. 6 matching buttons are included.
Unfortunately, we do not have the rights to sell the pattern, but you can find it here:
If you want to knit the cardigan longer than the pattern suggests, either on the body or sleeves, you must go up a size.
The Novice Cardigan – Chunky Edition is worked from the top down. This means that you begin by working the ribbed neck edge, then you work the yoke, then the body and finally the sleeves. The cardigan is worked in stockinette stitch, while the edges are worked in rib. The Novice Cardigan – Chunky Edition has a round yoke, which is shaped by working 4 sets of increases evenly distributed along the yoke.
Size Guide and Measurements
Please note that knitting to the correct gauge is essential to end up with a garment that has the measurements given in the pattern.
The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL are designed to fit an approximate bust circumference of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm [31½-33½ (33½-35½) 35½-37½ (37½-39½) 39½-43¼ (43¼-47¼) 47¼-51¼ (51¼-55) 55-59 inches]. The Novice Cardigan – Chunky Edition is designed to have approx. 15 cm [6 inches] of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be approx. 15 cm [6 inches] larger in circumference than your body.
This means that if you, for example, measure 88 cm [34¾ inches] around your bust or widest upper body part (measure yourself around your bust, or your widest point, using a measuring tape), you should knit a size S which has a circumference of 103 cm [40½ inches]. This will give you 15 cm [5¾ inches] of positive ease.

Chunky Mohair/alpaca:
This is truly an exclusive and luxurious Italian yarn. It mainly consists of the finest kid mohair and super fine alpaca, only held together by a little wool anda little bitnylon. The garments knitted from this yarn are wonderfully light and soft, and warm very well in relation to the weight.
Mohair's ability to retain heat is approximately double that of wool. This yarn produces thick, but at the same time light garments, with a lovely halo effect. It can be usefully knitted on thick needles (5 mm and up).

We recommend that you knit every other round from different skeins to camouflage any color differences. The more colorvariety in the yarn, the more important is this. Kimmie Munkholm shows this nicely when knitting circular in this video, and when you knit back and forth in this video.
If you don't want to knit every other round from different skeins (this is done at your own risk 😉), it is recommended to do this a few rounds when changing yarn. This applies regardless of the color of the yarn.
Please note that the yarn may contain excess colour. Therefore, wash separately the first time.
All knitted garments should be stored flat.
