Yarn package for April Cardigan from PetiteKnit. With this yarn option, the cardigan is knitted in 1 thread Extra thin merino wool together with 1 thread Lace mohair/silk. 4 horn buttons are included; the picture shows an example.Unfortunately, we do not have the rights to sell the recipe, but you can find it here:

If you want to knit the jacket longer than the pattern suggests, either on the body or the sleeves, you must go up a size.

The April Cardigan has a V-cut and is knitted from the top down. The carrier piece is constructed so that shoulder increases are first knitted on the right and purl sides, then sleeve increases are knitted and finally a piece with raglan increases is knitted. At the same time, increases are knitted along the front edges, so that the V-cut is formed. The sleeves are knitted in the round on double pointed needles or with the Magic Loop technique. Finally, stitches are picked up along the front edges, at the shoulders and at the neck, and a button post is knitted in purl. Knit a test piece to find the needle size that gives you the right gauge.

Size guide

April Cardigan should have a range of motion (positive ease)of approx. 6-8 cm in relation to your chest measurement. The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL correspond to a chest measurement, measured on your own body, of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110 -120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm. The measurements of the finished cardigan are indicated on the front of the pattern (note that these measurements only apply if the knitting strength is observed). Measure yourself before you start knitting, to assess which size will suit you best. If you e.g. measures 90 cm around the chest (or the widest point on your torso), you should knit size S. A cardigan in size S has an excess width of 97 cm and in the mentioned example will provide a range of movement (positive ease) of 7 cm.

More information

Extra thin untreated merino wool:

Extrafine merino wool is used for this yarn so that it feels soft and gentle on the skin. The yarn is spun with extra long fibers to produce a yarn that is thin and strong with a silky feel and shine. It is incredibly soft and elastic, and the threads are twisted in such a way that it gives extra strength to the yarn.

Other information:

100% extra fine merino wool

Lace mohair/silk:

Mohair's softness depends primarily on the quality of the fibers. Superkid mohair comes from the first sorting, and is the softest and thinnest fibers you get from the mohair goat. The second sort is usually what is called kid mohair, and is also soft, but not as soft as the superkid mohair. Superkid mohair can be used close to the skin, and provides incredibly light and airy garments. The silk gives the yarn a lovely, exclusive mother-of-pearl sheen.

The yarn is thin, so it is very suitable as a companion thread for e.g. many of PetiteKnit's designs. This yarn is well suited for ego knitting and children's knitting.
